What is it about Chicks with Guitars?

Last week I went to see indie rock duo ‘The Kills’. We were right up the front- close enough to touch the guitarist, Jamie Hince, and lose some of the hearing in my right ear. I was about to count how many times Jamie pretended to shoot the crowd with his guitar when Alison Mosshart grabbed her’s- her guitar that is.

She wasn’t my type- the stereotypical indie girl- dark looks, skinny jeans, ripped top, tousled hair- burning off her nervous energy, circling the stage and showing contempt for ‘the rules’ by smoking on stage- but as soon as she grabbed that guitar there was just something about her. I realised that I’m a complete eejitt when it comes to a girl wielding a guitar with menace- I go all weak at the knees.

Many girls who probably wouldn’t cause me to raise an eyebrow, let alone cause me to do an exorist on it and rotate my head, have made me go all gooey as soon as they reach for their Fender. So here’s some pics of girls who have captivated me with their strumming skills-
