I’ve never minded having freckles- even in the Summer when they spread and try their best to join together to form one large super freckle. I think they add to my roguish charm! Clearly being young and freckled can also assist you if you’re a murder suspect- at least if you’re being detained in Italy!
The 21 year old Texan, Amanda Knox, who is suspected of the murder of British Student, Meredith Kercher, has been named fourth (and the top woman) in a list of ‘Personalities of the Year’ in an Italian online poll by news programme Studio Aperto.

Knox has been described as ‘angel faced’ by the Italian media and is also known as ‘Foxy Knoxy’. She denies the charges against her. The prosecution claims University student Kercher was killed when the three suspects in the case tried to force her to participate in ”a perverse group sex game”.
Knox topped the women in the poll with 8% of the votes. Also in contention were Olympic swimmer Federica Pellegrini who had 3%, the Alaskan wonder- Sarah Palin and the French first lady Carla Bruni who both received 1% of the votes.
To put Knox’s position is perspective- she got 8% of the vote. Barack Obama got 13% and was ranked one place higher in the poll! I’m not sure which is more surpising- an American alleged murderer voted a top personality in Italy, or the fact that Sarah Palin was in the running at all! Bizarre!

The Irish Independent reported yesterday that gay, lesbian and bisexual patients may be receiving substandard medical care from their doctors. To assist general practitioners (GP’s), the first book of guidelines for doctors on the care of gay patients has been published.
Research behind the book reveals that many people are still wary of revealing their sexuality to their GP- thus the need for the GP to encourage the disclosure of this information, appearing approachable and understanding.
It’s not surprising, particularly in Ireland where gay rights are so far behind the rest of the developed world, that people remain secretive. No doubt the situation is aggrevated in smaller practices, with a doctor who treats both you and the rest of your family. Hopefully this move will make more people comfortable with their doctor. Afterall, you’re paying him/her 50 quid…you may as well get your money’s worth!!

Obviously I’m not alone with my thing for girls with guitars- that’s if the latest adverts for the Guitar Hero World Tour are anything to go by- first there was the Heidi Klum video and now this one with November’s Playmate, Grace Kim. Did you know that she’s the first Korean centrefold in Playboy history!? Check it out

We’re not exactly spoiled for choice in Ireland when it comes to magazines aimed at lesbian readers. In terms of Irish publications there’s the free mag, GCN. Beyond that we can pick up a copy of the US mag Curve or the UK mag Diva- that’s if we visit one of the select outlets that sells these! We can now also download issues of G3- an English free mag. Yes our cup runneth over!
I browsed through a copy of Diva and G3 this weekend and was overwhelmed by the advertising. Ads for pet adoption, dating sites and sex toys filled many pages. Apparently there are two types of lesbians out there. Those desperately seeking love through singles nights and dating forums and those who have someone to do the bedroom tango with but are on a quest for the next colourful multi-noduled sex toy to send their relationship vibrating to the next level. Incidentally both of these breeds of lesbian either have pets or plan to have pets in the near future.
I work in media and so I am more than aware that publications, particularly niche publications, rely heavily on advertising. So I imagine that marketers and sales staff sat up in their chair when reading this article in the Evening Herald last week.
According to the Out Now GCN Readership Survey, gay and lesbian consumers can offer marketers a new and consistent stream of cash during recession times.

The one thing that’s been getting me through the day at work is coffee. I take unhealthy pleasure out of my morning Grande Americano…not to mention my lunchtime and evening one’s. Hence my depression today when I read that coffee can shrink the size of a woman’s breasts.
